All things YOGA…
International YOGA Day – Monday June 21st
This year’s theme: “Yoga for Well-being”
International Yoga Day 2021 will be celebrated on Monday, June 21, 2021. Since 2015, International Yoga Day is observed on June 21 to spread awareness among the masses about the importance of Yoga and its effects upon human health.
United Nations Organization designated International Yoga Day in 2014 on public demand that occurred on a large scale. International Yoga Day celebrations occur in India, USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, China, Australia, and some other countries of South Asia including Pakistan.
Atha: Now / YOGA: of Yoga / Anusasanam: Exposition or instruction.
Now the teachings of YOGA are presented…
Anusasanam: means exposition or instruction, because it is not mere philosophy that Patanjali is about to expound, but rather direct instruction on how to practice Yoga.
Mere philosophy will not satisfy us. We cannot reach the goal by mere words alone. Without practice, nothing can be achieved.
Soure: The YOGA Sutra’s of Patanjali – Sri Swami Satchidinanda
YOGA: is traced from the root yuj, yoke, and thus can mean that which joins, that is, unites one with absolute truth but that which was also discovered is that yoga is to un-yoke, unjoin, that is to disconnect purusa from prakriti.
Purusa: Spirit, consciousness, exists beyond the realm of time and space
Prakriti: Basic cosmic material that is the root of all beings, forms in this world of creation

The YOGA Foundation – FUNDRAISER – YOGA Supporting Women Affected by Domestic Violence
Restorative YOGA Class:Sunday: June 27th @ 5-6pm
Yoga Supporting Women is helping women who have had their lives torn apart by abuse and domestic violence to rebuild their lives through research-based, mind-body programs. The magnitude of the problem is enormous and there’s never been a more critical time to face it. While there’s no one proven way that survivors recover from the psychological effects of this abuse, many aspects of The Yoga Foundation’s programs have shown to improve mental health, confidence, self agency, self awareness and general wellbeing.
I am teaching a restorative yoga class next Sunday 27 June, 5-6 pm via Zoom.
In the comfort and warmth of your own home gather props and supports(Bolsters/cushions/towels/blankets), anything that you can rest on to and feel supported.
The class will be 60 mins and leave your feeling amazingly nurtured, re-energised, calm and centered. Give yourself very important self time to let go, surrender and breathe in to the here and now.
Restorative yoga helps to “restore”, to give back to your self, to return or renew, to come back or move forward.
For each of us it is very different but it gives us all a sense of “wholeness” and “oneness”.
To join the class please feel free to donate any amount you can to help make a difference to these women who need our support.
Once you have made your donation I will forward you the zoom link for the class. (email and TXT so please make sure your details are with the donation)
Any amount will be greatly appreciated and if you can’t make the class then any gifted donation is welcomed.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
I have worked for The Yoga Foundation for 6years and have seen the amazing impact that yoga has on the lives of these communities that need our support. Any donation would be greatly appreciated and from me personally thank you if you are able to contribute.
