Loving Kindness Meditation…

Learn to cultivate Loving Kindness through this meditation:
Traditionally the meditation is done for oneself and then for a wider circle:

  • Self
  • Loved one
  • Someone neutral to you
  • Someone you may have difficulty with
  • All Beings

Come to your meditation space
Bring your attention to your heart space,
Breathe slow and deep

Bring your attention to someone you truly love who is dear to your heart,

  • Family/friend, a loved one
  • Notice the feelings that arise in your heart space
  • Send loving energy to their heart space

Bring your attention to someone not so close to you, someone in your daily routine/neutral,

  • Notice the feelings that arise in your heart space
  • Send loving energy to their heart space

Bring your attention to someone who perhaps challenges you, have difficulty in understanding past or present

  • Notice the feelings that arise in your heart space
  • Send loving energy to their heart space

Are you the same person in all these relationships?
Did you change who you were in these different instances?
If so, why are you selective with your feelings?
Repeat about each person:

  • Just like me, this person is seeking some Happiness in their life
  • Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in their life
  • Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair
  • Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfil their needs
  • Just like me, this person is learning about LIFE…

This meditation develops qualities of:

  • Friendliness
  • Compassion
  • Appreciative joy
  • Equanimity
  • Cultivates a positive emotional state towards others and self
  • Brings harmony to relationships
  • Helps to overcome anger, resentment and hurt
  • Develop empathy, kindness, forgiveness and appreciation
