I am | Just Me
We are told to live in this moment and if we read the philosophies that it is the here and now, and that is all that matters. However I came across this above quote and it rings true to all that makes us up from our experiences in life and creates the person we become. From all our collective experiences we become the ideals of people and situations and who we are is all that we have been, seen and done, and all that we don’t want to see, be and do.
Cut away | That I am
What if we could live each day anew, letting go of the past experiences so we had no expectations of how it would be, how we expect a story to play out and live as if we could be free from the experience to make it new – all the time to make it new and refreshing.
Is it possible to take away the labels and names and see the flower, not the name of the flower. Is it possible to experience our day as the day without how we are expected to be in it by others and how we are in relation to them. How could it be? Would we fit the day?
Take away the I am, by name, profession, family, status, where I live, and who am I in this moment? In reality: What is the experience in this moment? Who am I in this moment?

I am, that I am
Mantra Meditation: So ham/hum = I am, that I am.
Inhales: Mantra = So > I am / Count = 4
Exhales: Mantra = Hum > That, I am / Count = 4
We start with the connection to the feelings/SOUND of the breaths. Feel and connect with them and gradually let the breaths become steady and slower. Be gentle allowing the breaths to lengthen organically.
Start the Mantra/chant and repeat silently to yourself:
As you Inhale: So
As you exhale: Hum
Soooo: Inhale and the mind remembers this sound
Hummm: Exhale and the mind remembers this sound
Continue with this chant for some time.
After some time, change the words to:
Inhaling: I am
Exhaling: that (meaning: all that is)
Let the mind rest into these words and then surrender into the feeling of what arises around these words. The ebb and flow of the universal tides of breath and energy.
Then we’re continuing with the mantra and the connection that we all breathe from and to the one and same source.
Mantra:
Inhale: I am
Exhale: That,
I am
OR
Inhale: I am,
Exhale: That, which is
…whichever words resonate with you? Repeat the words as your mantra during the meditation process.
Lastly: Continue with the mantra then also bring your attention to the tip of the nostrils and feel the breath as it enters and leaves the nostril.
This builds our connection and understanding that we all breathe from the one universal source of energy and it returns to the atmosphere, to the union in which we are all connected!
Really stay with this connection of receiving and then returning, of being unified with the one source, and breathe deeper into the expanse of understanding that we are all living from the same source.
Let go and be.
Surrender the mantra when ready. Let go, and in letting go then watch and tune in, as it’s in this space we are interested! What is in your space?
What arises from the spaciousness?
You may need to resume the mantra and connection to the breaths throughout this time frame, so do what you feel is best for you.
In Vedic philosophy (ancient Indian/Hindu texts), So hum is the connection and identification of oneself with the universe and our true reality.
It is said the sound of our breaths to our inner ear is that of “So hum”. As we breathe in, it is said our breath is the sound of ‘So’, and our exhales simulate the sound of ‘Hum’.
This ancient meditation technique is used to deepen the concentration of the mind to the rhythm of the breaths and deepen the breaths. The union with the breath releases tensions in the body and calms an active mind.
I am…
Not by the name I am given in this lifetime
Not by my family
Not by the relationship I’m in
Not by what I do
Not by how I act
We are different in every relationship – e.g. a female can be: a grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, wife, partner, lover, aunt, cousin, friend, business colleague, Director, CEO, boss, teetotaler, surfer, golfer, pianist…
Let us be all we can be.
Namaste
Week coming up…
Enjoy some time to be in the present moment and it’s the breath that keeps us present. Let the mind surrender to the present moment into the moment of the here and now. Who Am I in this moment?
Thanks to all of you for our lovely community.
Blessings and Namaste Lou xo
“
Who am I, you ask? I am made from all the people I’ve encountered and all the things I have experienced. Inside, I hold the laughter of my friends, the arguments with my parents, the chattering of young children and the warmth from kind strangers. Inside, there are stitchings from cracked hearts, bitter words from heated arguments, music that gets me through and emotions I cannot convey. I am made from all these people and moments. This is who I am.
