Love – There is no Opposite
Love is…
What is love and this may change from one experience from love to another! If there is a deeper love a connection of a bond and something else of a spiritual love – eros, agape, is there a different love? Is there a higher love?
The love of the other as it comes from knowing who or what you are and recognising yourself in the other. The spiritual love – the YOU just as yourself with no talk in your head of who you are. That presence, is it the essence of itself recognising the self and then we may look at the other? Are there 2 things happening simultaneously that we feel an emotional connection too, along with the presence of one!
In that essence of the other can we go deeper and recognise the other by recognising or knowing our own self – they are consciousness which we see when we may look into their eyes. What is the personality? But if we go beyond that and then we see in the other ourself, is it the same? The one consciousness? Is this “one” is this spiritual love? Then we don’t lose ourselves but we find ourselves – not losing ourselves in the other – the emotional body but the recognition of the other as ourself.
Is there the same love for someone casually for a few moments as to a close family member? Perhaps with family there is the close emotional bond, but do we need to single out the special ones and attach emotions that are like the waves on the ocean. Is that the I love you/ I don’t love you? Is there a recognition of who we are, can we leave out the waves of emotional energy and live in the knowing of who we are and take away the dimension of love/and the so called falling in and out of the so called words as the opposites of love.
The emotions may not disappear but the oneness may be contained and recognised in the vastness – to love all as one!
I am…
“He’s more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” – Emily Bronte Wuthering Heights
I am, that I am.
I am that which I will be.
I am, is who I am.
I am, I was and I will be.
I am the existing one.
The statement has been around for aeons, in spiritual teachings, readings and connections. What does “I am” mean to you?
When are we in this presence of being? When are we fully aware and present to “be”? When can we say we are truly present? Is there a practice that connects you to the oneness of the I am? The purity of I am, without our own self judgement and recriminations for our actions or lack of!
I am…
Compassion Meditation
When ready…
???? Bring your attention to your heart area (centre chest for anahata chakra) and think of someone you truly love; husband/wife/partner/child, family member, friend, whoever it is, someone dear to your heart. Notice the feelings that arise as you bring this person into your attention. Send energy of loving kindness to their heart, see them accepting your intentions and then come back to your own heart and breathe.
???? Bring your attention to your heart, and think of someone not so close to you, someone who makes your coffee/lunch daily, a work colleague, someone you see in your daily routine/travels, serves you in the supermarket. Notice the feelings that arise as you bring this person into your attention. Send energy of loving kindness to their heart, see them accepting your intentions and then come back to your own heart and breathe.
???? Bring your attention to your heart, and think of someone who perhaps you’ve been arguing with, have argued with, someone who you may have difficulty in understanding, someone who seems to always get/or has got under your skin, someone who challenges you. Notice the feelings that arise as you bring this person into your attention. Send energy of loving kindness to their heart, see them accepting your intentions and then come back to your own heart and breathe. This could be someone from a previous time.
????Are you the same person, in all these relationships? Did you change who you were in these different instances? If so, why are you selective in your feelings?
Repeat to yourself about each person:
???? Just like me, this person is seeking some happiness in his/her life!
???? Just like me, this person is trying to avoid suffering in his/her life!
???? Just like me, this person has known sadness, loneliness and despair.
???? Just like me, this person is seeking to fulfill his/her needs.
???? Just like me, this person is learning about life.
⏳ Take time to sit into the energy you generate about each person.
???? May all beings be free of pain and suffering, may all beings be filled with love, peace and harmony, including yourselves.

Some people call it love when they fall in love with someone – which may be a clinging and a needing – usually a physical and emotional needing of the other.
