Up Up ‘n Away We Go | Upper Body Stabilise and Mobilise

Moving without Distraction

Focus, dedication, continuation, on-going, we go up up and into it all, or set and direct, or focus and flow, or one step at a time, or find your groove. And that comes from continuing to get on the mat and practice. It is a flow, it is dedication to set action and take steps to be on our journey, so when something may become different in our life – we are more centred and focused so we can continue to where it is we’re going. OUR Flow, destination, continuation, direction, journey, flow, commitment, step…

Weekly FOCUS

To bring our focus in, to make the sequence feel renewed, to invigorate our mind, body and soul. To open up our mind body connection, to inspire us, to help us stay attentive, so we’re not getting bored in our practice, to bring us onto the mats to practice – as that’s what it is a practice, to awaken our mind, to shift where our attention goes in a pose, so one week we may be focusing on our bandha’s whilst in the following week the same pose with a focus on our hips may feel completely different, to explore ourselves and then understand that as we focus differently so too can we see and feel life differently – it’s not the same person stepping onto the mat each day – we’re different in so many ways and when we feel dog pose for example, do we notice how different we are from one day to beginning and the end of an individual class all the way through to the last asana. We change and our weekly focus perhaps helps us to understand how differently we are and continue to be.

In Motion Lifestyle Centre began as a centre for people to have a healthier life and that is still my aim, to provide options for people to move and feel better.
The goal? To positively affect the lives of as many people as possible through the incredible benefits that the yogic lifestyle brings physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

One-on-one sessions aren’t new, you will receive a truly bespoke experience that is tailored to your own goals and your level of skill.

A personal session is a great opportunity to work on your foundations, set a platform for your next phase of yogic development. It’s also a lens that reveals alignments, strengths, opportunities and helps shift from weaknesses to balance.

But more than anything, a personal session is where you can be challenged like nowhere else. There is no place to hide. You will have the full focus of my attention for the entire 45 minute session. It will be rewarding, enriching and provide a great amount of satisfaction.

Online yoga classes on Zoom.

The studio class experience brought to life in your living room…

We are live and we are pre-recorded as not always can we get to live classes and the feedback I’m getting with the recordings has been great. Everyone can book in and within 48hours can either do the recorded class or do it again if they liked the class so much!

To me, yoga has always been and will always be such a personal practice! It’s where you turn in, look within and explore the poses from within. If it’s the social aspect you like, then please feel free to catch up afterwards and before with cuppa’s and coffee’s and chat’s n laughs as that is the community, but when we’re on the mat and in our practice, it’s personal, it’s growth and it’s an opportunity to explore who we are in this present moment…

Make that appointment to join a class, it is a commitment to yourself that you WILL give this time to yourself. I know that I always feel stronger, more motivated and more energetic after a class. No matter my state of mind before taking it.

We have our chats at the beginning and end of classes to touch-base and stay connected! I do get so much from these connections everyday, so please continue to turn on and say hi before and after classes too.

Free online yoga for thirty days.

If you’ve been opening my newsletters, you’ll be aware of this great offer. I really want you all to experience the zoom sessions – as once you start with them they really are easy to connect into. Students that’ve been joining the community online have given me some wonderful feedback.

You don’t need a credit card. Simply sign on and join a class immediately.

WEEKLY FOCUS: UPPER BODY

NECK, SHOULDERS, UPPER BACK AND CHEST, ARMS

We’re all connected and with the upper body in focus this week, we’ll look at mobilisation and stabilisation for poses through the upper body and that affect the upper body!

Neck: Gently stretching and mobilising the neck, it does so much work during the days to support our heavy heads – so please be kind and gentle as we move the neck around. Flexion, extension, controlled articular rotations, move through range of motion without pain. Maintain your alignments with your Jalandhara Bandha – maintain length without tension and pressure or force.

SHOULDERS, UPPER BACK AND CHEST, ARMS

Shoulders: Remember to keep the shoulders sealed down the back and not hitching up near the ears as we try to recruit strength. Keep the shoulder blades sealed onto the back to maintain strength and as we stretch out the upper back also keep the shoulders sealed down away from the ears.

Plank to Chatarunga: Also please keep shoulder heads back and use the shoulder blade strength not the shoulder heads. So if your shoulders are rolling inward and collapsing, then please try and keep them wide and broad to open the front and seal onto the back.

Chest and Arms: The pushing and pulling motions we take through the Chatarunga’s and then arms behind the back and pulling away, all strengthen and open the upper body; arms, chest and back – remember always make sure you are able to breathe and not over-do the motions of movement. Is there breath? Is it protecting me as I open? Am I noticing the feeling of the pose/position? Am I stable?

Thanks in advance. Lou ????

We flow upwards with our attention this week, into the upper body – be open and stable as we journey through these poses. Have a lovely week everyone, and thanks for all the support through this Covid period again this year.

Namaste,

Lou ????

“At one stage during my coaching, I blurted out in frustration ‘I should have just enrolled in a yoga retreat!’

Lou calmly replied ‘Yes, but you can hide in a retreat. Here, you can’t hide – your authentic self is coming and you feel challenged and vulnerable.’

And she was right. I came to realise that my journey unfolds only when we connect to it. I couldn’t have done this by myself.

Coaching quite literally changed my life.”
